About Richard
Richard’s already established IT & System skills were finely honed during extensive working with Japanese automotive companies within the U.K. in the 80’s & 90’s. He became fascinated with the Asian methods of organisation and developed an advanced level of IT systems and integration knowledge working with the automotive supply chain across Europe. This was followed by stints in the mobile telecoms industries – where he really enjoyed developing new systems, which at the time were ‘MMS’ services!
During the late 90’s Richard became very involved in emerging on-line trends and developed his first ‘hobby’ web site in 1997 quickly followed up with first commercial web sites in 1998 and then rapidly absorbing new languages and methodologies to become involved in the development of large-scale on-line ordering platforms and management systems for a multitude of industries for many years.
Richard joined with Relish in 2014 to initially design and develop a new approach to recipe and menu management. This has now grown into the ‘holistic’ all-encompassing Relish-Ops system. At every stage devising, developing and maintaining the multiple modules, bespoke to the operational requirements of Relish operations, our clients, suppliers and partners. From the early days of a few simple recipes and menus, the systems are now maintained and continually developed with the help of his trusty team of experts in portal development and data management. The systems regularly handle over 1.3M interactions with users per month. Richard quotes: "The role is ever changing, we are always learning which is highly rewarding – for geeks like me!''
Personal Interests
In his youth, Richard was a committed petrol-head and thrill-seeking adrenalin junkie. His approach has ‘mellowed’ somewhat with age, and too much time behind a desk. Richard is now more of an armchair F1 fan and lover of all things ‘Strictly' , with the usual middle age IT professional physique to match!
Richard is also a very proud father and husband who really enjoys spending downtime and travel with his family, enjoying fine-dining and fine wines when permitted! A great night out would be a Michelin starred restaurant experience, a great night in would be a Saturday night dancing around the living room with an adorable, yet ‘bonkers’ cockapoo, Bagel!
