Jubilee LEAD Academy Revamp
Making a Difference in Many Ways...
How things CAN change for the better!
When Jubilee Primary School became a LEAD Academy, we jumped on board as the catering service solution. The lunch service was cafeteria style and served from heated trolleys that were wheeled into the dining room each day.
As part of a complete re-vamp, we looked at how we could enhance the school meals and came up with a project plan that looked at not just the food offer but also addressed the whole meal experience. As a joint partnership with the Trust and the school, we aimed to positively impact:
- the food offer - using the freshest, in-season ingredients and offering a varied and flexible daily food offer
- the dining experience and environment - getting the right look and feel that enabled the children to fully enjoy their food
- the kitchen facility - securing funds to get the kitchen equipped to deliver the service and be a sustainable facility for the future years
Before and After
Our photo library tells the story of the journey. We set about the kitchen upgrade, introduced healthy yet appealing menus and refurbished the dining room with new tables and chairs and a redecoration programme. Children in the Infants now enjoy a family style service that ensures there is time to nurture and encourage good eating habits whilst children in the Juniors have a cafeteria style service from bespoke counters that provide choice and flexibility to their daily meal offer - and getting them ready for the more sophisticated foods and offers that secondary school and the high street will present.
